Electrodiagnostic Testing
provided by Dr. Bauerle
Nerve conduction studies measure how well
particular nerves conduct electricity. Electromyography (EMG) involves reading
the tiny electrical signals made by muscle fibers to look for evidence of nerve
damage or muscle disease.
Muscle
weakness, nerve pain, or numbness may be due to a problem in the brain, the
spinal cord, or the peripheral nerves. Other problems affect the junction
between nerves and muscles or muscle itself. EMG tests can help physicians
determine where the problem lies.
